Kids Nutrition Question – Best Bread for our kids – white, whole wheat or rye?
Hi,
My daughter is 3 yrs old. I know for adults they say whole wheat bread is better.
However, for some reason I have a feeling for kids white bread or rye has advantages too. I guess it’s easier to digest for kids or something. Do you agree?
Also, specifically any thought ton the “Wonder” brand – Enriched White Bread with 8 or 13 Essential Nutrients (Vitamins)? THANKS.
Whole wheat or rye. Kids might not like rye bread at first–it’s an acquired taste. My dad always bought rye bread, and I found that I really liked it toasted. Try it that way first. I’d stick with the natural, whole grain bread whenever possible. Wonder Bread has been processed so much that they need to add nutrients to replace everything lost in processing. Why not feed a kid (and yourself) something that still has the natural nutrients?

It’s not whether it’s healthier, I think your problem could be whether she’ll eat it or not. Try wheat white ( i know it’s weird just try it). It taste like white but it has the needed wheat. Kids like it because its not as thick,harsh, or heavy as wheat and it’s hard to get a kid to eat rye XP

the whole wheat bread type is most easiest to digest for all….it has the most fiber in it!
i would prefer you give her whole wheat bread (the brown bread) as not only will she develop a healthy habbit it will benefit her system from the start….!!

Whole Wheat Bread with 3 grams of fiber or more per serving is the ideal formula for bread – if you must consume it in general. You also MUST make sure there is no high fructose corn syrup, corn starch or the like in the ingredients or else you are simply feeding your daughter junk and I know you want what’s best for her!
Personally the best bread out there is called Ezekiel Bread http://foodforlife.com – which has bread but also has pasta, cereal and pitas for a variety of recipes. Please please please don’t feed your daughter wonder bread or the like – that’s just junk in disguise! (*Just like the corn bread!)

I would say Whole Wheat or Rye, I know this is diet bread. But there is also kids bread at certain stores.
