Hi,

You might want to try the one that I am giving my son. It is recommended to me by a health consultant friend.

It is 100% natural and I have been taking it since I was pregnant... all the way till my son was born, he has been taking it for 2 years and has never seen a doctor in his life ;)

I had a friend whose son recovered from asthma after taking this pdt and another whose son recovered from eczema... if you would like to find out more, you can email me at verityy@yahoo.com
References :
Have you tried suggesting chiropractic care for your nephew? It really can do wonderous things. Unlike common beliefs, chiropractic care is not just for "low back pain". There have been numberous case studies which have proven chiropractic to be very beneficial in various areas of the health/wellness. Here are some stats on the matter:

76.5% of patients with bronchial asthma said they benefited from chiropractic treatment. Peak flow rate and vital capacity increased after the third treatment. Significantly lower quality of life impairment rating scores were reported for 90.1% of children after 60 days of chiropractic care. During this same time period the average number of asthma attacks decreased an average of 44.9%, and asthma medication usage was decreased an average of 66.5%. Among parents of asthmatic children who had received chiropractic treatment, 92% considered this treatment beneficial.
References :
www.chiro.org

For adults, taking 3 to 6 high strength odourless 3,000 mg garlic oil capsules every day would help to boost the immune system. Garlic is both an antimicrobial agent and an antibacterial agent and is very good for people with sinus problems.

For a 5 year old probably 1 or 2 capsules a day would be enough.
References :
Echinacea for kids is great and can be found at the local health store. Probiotics are also great, but can be expensive.
References :
Well, if he can't take citrus fruits, you'll probably want to stay away from any Vitamin C products that are not Acerola Cherry (as that is the most abundant source of Vitamin C that is not Ascorbic Acid).

Also, do NOT do what Darleen M said.... 5 year old children should NOT have Iron unless their doctor says so, as it can be toxic (or fatal in high enough doses) in children that young.
However, a children's multivitamin would be a good idea in general, but that'll only cover the basic health aspects.

Unfortunately, most herbs and supplements that would be good for boosting the immune system are only recommended for people at least 16 years or older, although a few are made with children's doses. I would suggest asking his pediatrician what the best thing for him would be because his doctor can look at his medical history and problems he's experienced (frequent illness should put up enough of a red flag for him that he should be able to suggest something helpful). Good luck!
References :
I'm a Product Specialist for a vitamin company

My grandson is five years old and I give him all natural Ocean Wonders multi-vitamin, chewable Vita-C and Optiflora. They've worked really well for him and they contain no artificial sweeteners, colors, flavors, or preservatives.

Hope this is helpful.
